I have put some more photos from the Christmas weekend cleanup at JPGMag: http://www.jpgmag.com/people/ewb

And a photo of a piece of the vegan, gluten-free chocolate cake.

I'm off to the kitchen to try another variation on the basic "depression" cake recipe. I thought this time, having fresh coffee concentrate (Toddy coffee) on hand, I would try substituting half of that for the water the recipe calls for. Also, I'm going to swap 1/3 cup of coconut flour for 1/3 cup all-purpose gf flour (and add an egg for additional liquid).

Neighborhood Effort: Clearing the Snow

Aside from the airlines, local travel was shut down, yesterday, and so we stayed put, Christmas Day. Very relaxing! I liked that. State dept. of transportation has started opening the interstate highways. The snow has picked up, again, now that the winter storm warning has gone away. Al's out exploring, now that he can get the car out of the garage, and I'm seriously considering fixing a bowl of chicken noodle soup and then wandering off to bed, again. That's what vacations are for, right?

ETA: Al's come straight home, again. Couldn't get anywhere by car that he'd wanted to go.

Christmas Wishes

It looks as though our White Christmas will be a blizzard! Tucked in for the duration.

Best wishes from me and Al.

Reading

I committed "book" last night, using some of the cash I got for Christmas (early celebration). Bought Bitter Angels by C. L. Anderson (pen name). Looks really good. I'm still planning on sticking mostly to nonfiction, this vacation, but wanted to get Anderson's book. I like her science fiction very much.
